An absolute classic - does the original books justice. Look forward to the anticipated remake hitting cinemas - I hope

First half actually felt quite good even if quite horrible ”special effects” in todays eyes :)Second half was quite rushed/compromised.Interesting if you have seen the new movies (same story and visuals even if a bit different)

Frequently asked questions

What is Dune about? Toggle content

In the distant future, the universe is ruled by the Padishah Emperor Shaddam IV. The most valuable substance in the empire is the spice melange, which extends life and expands consciousness. The spice also allows for safe, instantaneous interstellar travel. However, production of the spice is threatened, and Shaddam transfers power and control of the planet Arrakis, the only source of the spice, to House Atreides. The Atreides are attacked by their archenemies, the Harkonnens, alongside Shaddam's own Sardaukar troops. Lady Jessica, a member of the Bene Gesserit sisterhood with advanced physical and mental abilities, is the concubine of Duke Leto Atreides and is part of a centuries-long breeding program to produce the Kwisatz Haderach, a mental superbeing. The story follows young Paul Atreides as he leads his people in their fight for survival against the Harkonnens and the Emperor's forces.
