In 1886 Brazil, a young woman named Sinhá Moça defies her father's pro-slavery beliefs and joins a group of abolitionists, including a charming lawyer named Rodolfo, in their fight for freedom and equality. As they work together, Sinhá and Rodolfo fall in love, but their relationship is complicated by her father's disapproval. Meanwhile, Sinhá's childhood friend Dimas returns to Araruna seeking revenge against the Baron, who mistreated him and his mother.
