In the 1980s, a small German town is chosen to host a nuclear waste treatment plant, promising economic revival. The local politician, initially in favor of the project, begins to question the government's true intentions. He discovers that the plant may pose grave risks to the population and becomes a vocal critic, risking his career. As tensions rise, violent crackdowns on peaceful protests by the authorities threaten the community's very way of life.
