"Underground: The Julian Assange Story" reveals the little-known origins of the controversial WikiLeaks founder. In the late 1980s, a teenage Julian Assange, known by his hacker alias "Mendax," teams up with two friends to form a group called the "International Subversives." Utilizing early home computers, they declare themselves "white hat hackers" and set out to infiltrate some of the world's most powerful and secretive organizations. As their exploits garner global attention, they become a major threat to national security in the eyes of the US Government. With the FBI pressing for action, Australian authorities form a special task force to catch the elusive hackers. A game of cat and mouse ensues, pitting police ingenuity against the cunning and skill of the young men in the electronic underground of Melbourne.
