The World to Come

In the mid-19th century American East Coast frontier, two neighboring couples struggle against isolation and hardship. Despite their efforts, they find comfort in a blossoming friendship between the two women, Abigail and Tallie. As their bond deepens, they each confide in the other about their unsatisfying marriages. Their connection eventually turns romantic, and they find solace in each other's embrace. However, their happiness is short-lived, as a tragic event tears them apart, leaving Abigail to imagine a different life, one where she and Tallie can be together, free from societal constraints.
