Set It Off

Set It Off is a 1996 crime-thriller film that follows the lives of four Black women who decide to take matters into their own hands and rob banks to escape their difficult circumstances. Starring Jada Pinkett, Queen Latifah, Vivica A. Fox, and Kimberly Elise, the movie takes the audience on a thrilling ride as the women navigate their way through the criminal underworld. The film begins with Frankie (Fox), a bank teller who is fired after a robbery, and her three best friends, Lida "Stony" Newsome (Pinkett), Cleopatra "Cleo" Sims (Latifah), and Tisean "T.T." Williams (Elise), who are struggling to make ends meet. Frankie suggests they rob a bank themselves, and after some initial hesitation, the group decides to go through with it. As they embark on a series of successful bank robberies, they gain confidence and start to enjoy their newfound freedom. However, their actions do not go unnoticed by Detective Strode (John C. McGinley), who becomes obsessed with catching them. The women's relationships with each other and their love interests become complicated as they try to balance their criminal activities with their personal lives. The film takes a tragic turn when T.T. is killed during one of the robberies, leading Cleo to seek revenge against the police officers responsible for her death. As the police close in on them, Frankie is killed during a high-speed chase while trying to escape capture; this event devastates Ursula (Samantha MacLachlan) Cleo's girlfriend) & friends from neighborhood watching TV news .Eventually Stony(Pinkett) manages tearfully watches frankie's death from passing charter bus; strode sees her but lets her go , realizing his part played in driving Women Crime ,& failing stop her brother from being killed .
