Passchendaele

"Passchendaele" is a powerful war drama that tells the story of Sergeant Michael Dunne (Paul Gross), a Canadian soldier who returns home from the battlefields of Europe with severe PTSD. While in hospital, he meets and falls in love with nurse Sarah Mann (Caroline Dhavernas). When Sarah's younger brother David (Joe Dinicol) enlists in the army despite his asthma, Dunne feels responsible and reenlists to protect him. The three of them end up on the battlefields of Belgium during the Battle of Passchendaele, where they face unimaginable horrors and sacrifices. The film's climax features a dramatic and emotionally charged scene where Dunne risks everything to keep his promise to Sarah and protect David, ultimately sacrificing his own life. The movie ends with David, Sarah, and their friends paying tribute to Dunne's grave, surrounded by hundreds of other Canadian war graves.
