What is Major League II about? Toggle content

The Cleveland Indians are back, but they're not the same team that won the division title last season. After their success, the players have become complacent and their performance has suffered. Rick "Wild Thing" Vaughn is more concerned about his public image than his pitching, Pedro Cerrano has become a Buddhist and adopted a carefree style, and Willie Mays Hayes has become a Hollywood actor and fancies himself a power hitter. The team's owner, Rachel Phelps, sells the team to Roger Dorn, who retires as an active player to become the team owner. Dorn signs arrogant catcher Jack Parkman, which forces Jake Taylor to compete for his old position. The team gets off to a slow start, with various complications and conflicts between the players. Out of options, Dorn sells the Indians back to Phelps, who retains Dorn as general manager. With the Indians now in last place, Phelps has another chance to move the team to Miami. Lou Brown suffers a heart attack due to his frustration over the team's performance, and Jake takes over as manager. The team fights each other during a doubleheader against the Boston Red Sox and gets ejected. Inspired by a speech from Rube Baker, the team starts to turn their season around, and they ride a hot streak all the way to a second straight division title. However, Vaughn continues to struggle, refusing to finish games he starts and allowing the heckling fans to get into his head. In the ALCS against the White Sox, Parkman jumps out to an early 2–1 lead, but the Indians come back to win the game and take the series.
