In a small town in southern Italy, a family tragedy unfolds as a young mother and her daughter become victims of abuse at the hands of a ruthless patriarch. The film explores the themes of violence, slavery and the oppression of women in a society where silence and indifference allow such atrocities to persist. Based on real events, the movie takes place over a period of 50 years, from the post-war era to the beginning of the new millennium, and follows the lives of women who are struggling to find their place in a world dominated by men. Despite the bleak setting, the film offers a glimmer of hope for a better future where unity and solidarity can bring about change.
