After a marathon tour with the band, Clarence felt the need for a break and set out on a voyage to China, where he could be a nameless traveler in a foreign land. The film documents his transcendent awakening, but also faces tragedy when Clarence suffers a stroke and passes away while in Florida. Featuring interviews with President Bill Clinton, Joe Walsh, Nils Lofgren, Jake Clemons, former bandmates, friends, and close family members, this intimate portrait showcases Clarence's life as a musician and member of the E Street band, while also revealing a side of him that few saw when he was away from the stage.
