Set in a beautifully and meticulously rendered recreation of 1950s New York, CAROL stars Cate Blanchett as the elegant, affluent, eponymous housewife, trapped in a loveless marriage, whose budding relationship with a young shopgirl (Rooney Mara) sends them both on a quest to find the freedom to love within a repressive society.
