The BFG is big friendly giant of a film from a director who knows how to make films on that note and on that scale.

Not only does it recall the likes of Gulliver’s Travels, it reminds us what fantastical fun can come of a large cast as well as a large character.

The BFG’s greatest strength is its simplicity. This is a film built for children that delights with fantastical details while gently pushing a heartfelt message about the power of dreams.
