Spirit of the Ducks
38min - Evan arrives at the Ducks rink – summoned there by Coach T. After watching Evan carry the Don’t Bothers to their first win, Coach T wants him back on the Ducks. It’s a chance to be on a team that’s a real contender for States. It feels great to be recruited, but Evan resists – he couldn’t leave his friends. Coach T says just come to one practice. Meanwhile, Ducks Mom and Alex’s boss, Stephanie, is busy planning the Spirit of the Ducks Gala, celebrating 25 years of the team. In a bit of retribution for Alex nearly beating her at the Moms Hockey Skills Challenge, she has Alex working overtime preparing the gift bags. But there’s one important guest conspicuously missing from the invite list: Bombay. Alex asks her about it, and the answer isn’t good: he wasn’t invited because he doesn’t represent the best of the Ducks. They’ve moved on. They’ll be presenting an award to Coach T. When Alex levels with Bombay about it, he’s crushed. A bunch of players from Bombay’s original Ducks team are in town for the event. We learn where some familiar faces (Fulton Reed, Connie Moreau, Guy Germaine, Adam Banks, Lester Averman, and Ken Wu) are now. Over pizza, Bombay’s thrilled to catch up with them, but then hurt by the fact that he was left out of the gala. Not wanting to admit he wasn’t invited, he winds up defensively belittling their whole experience. The OG Ducks are stunned. Evan attends an incredible Ducks practice and struggles with the offer that could get him back on hockey’s A-list. When Alex finds out what Evan did, she’s shocked, but decides, as a mom, she needs to step back and let him make his own choice this time. Everything comes to a head at the Ducks gala. Will Bombay’s old team rescue their coach when they realize why he’s not there? Will Evan wind up betraying his team? And what kind of impact will the original Ducks have on our Don’t Bothers?
