In the twilight years of the Goguryeo dynasty, a powerful military general named Yeon Gaesomun seeks to overthrow King Yeongnyu due to their differing opinions. Meanwhile, Yeon Gaesomun's son Choong who is born of a slave mother and Moo Young, the daughter King Yeongnyu falls in love, but their love story is complicated by vengeance, power struggles, and internal conflicts. A struggle for dominance ensues between the two families and a bloody coup occurs.
