In the distant future, humanity has spread across the galaxy and formed the Union, a peaceful and advanced civilization. The Orville, a mid-level exploratory spaceship, is tasked with charting the unknown reaches of space and encountering new civilizations. Led by Captain Ed Mercer, a determined officer seeking to prove himself after a painful divorce, and Commander Kelly Grayson, his ex-wife and first officer, the crew of the Orville faces both the wonders and dangers of outer space. Alongside them are Doctor Claire Finn, a brilliant medical officer with expertise in molecular surgery; Lieutenant Gordon Malloy, the ship's best helmsman known for his pranks; Lieutenant Commander Bortus, a seasoned Moclan officer with unique biology; and Lieutenant Alara Kitan from Xelaya - young chief of security with incredible strength due to her planet's high gravity. Together they navigate alien encounters while managing their personal struggles within this futuristic universe full of action-packed adventures
