The Lions of Sicily is a historical drama series that follows the story of the Florio family, who leave their poor origins in Calabria to become wealthy business owners in Palermo. Driven by a desire to succeed, Vincenzo, the son of Paolo, transforms the family business into a flourishing empire during the years leading up to Italy's unification. However, his ambition to be treated as an equal by the nobility of Palermo leads him to sacrifice his desires for nobility when he falls in love with middle-class Giulia Portalupi. The responsibility of maintaining the Florio name then falls upon their only son, Ignazio. With stunning visuals and a gripping storyline, this series explores themes of family, power, and love set against the backdrop of 19th century Sicily.
