Skräcken varvas med humor och nostalgi. Tonen påminner ibland om ”Stranger things” och slutet öppnar för en fortsättning.

Der er masser af solid opbygning og tilbageholdt åndedræt til at begejstre de fleste horrorfans, og tilstrækkelig skrækscenarier og forvrængede figurer til at holde lyset tændt om natten.

...med hjälp av den Oscarsbelönade Guillermo del Toro som manusförfattare och producent vid sin sida, är det lätt att förvänta sig en viss utdelning av fascinerande skräck och magisk realism.

Detta är old school horror som fick mig att tänka på Robert Wises ofta plagierade "Det spökar på Hill House" från 1963, även på Sam Raimis lågbudgetskräckrulle "The evil dead" (1981)...

Här bjuds det på alla möjliga ruggiga monster men likväl otäck stämning och härligt kalla kårar.
