In a world where a Great World Blaze has wiped out half of humanity and the survivors have developed pyrokinetic abilities, a group of mutants called the Burnish are hunted by the Burning Rescue team. When a radical group of Burnish called the Mad Burnish escape from prison, they are pursued by Galo Thymos, a new member of Burning Rescue. However, Galo soon discovers that the leader of the Mad Burnish, Lio Fotia, has a personal vendetta against the city governor Kray Foresight, who has been capturing Burnish for human experiments.
