Exorcist: The Beginning

Exorcist: The Beginning tells the story of Father Lankester Merrin's first encounter with the demon Pazuzu during his missionary work in East Africa. Haunted by his experiences in World War II, Merrin has lost faith in humanity and God, and is approached by a collector of antiquities who invites him to join a British excavation in Kenya. There, they discover a well-preserved Christian Byzantine-era church, built long before Christianity reached the region. The collector asks Merrin to recover an ancient relic of a demon thought to be hidden within the church, before the British can find it. As Merrin delves deeper into the church, he uncovers a dark and terrifying force that has been imprisoned for centuries, and must confront the evil head-on to save the local community from its wrath.
