In the sleepy town of Agáva,situated in the southern part of Slovakia, life is quiet and uneventful until the unexpected arrival of Mr. Hampl, a respected builder, and his enigmatic young wife Nada. She captures the attention of Daniel, a charming local teacher trying to shake off the horrors of his experiences in World War II. Nada resists Daniel's advances at first, but the intoxicating scent of flowering agave that permeates the air makes her decision more complicated. As the agave finally blooms after 30 years of dormancy Nada is faced with an impossible choice. Set in a sultry summer of 1974, what seems to be a simple love story at first glance transforms into profound psychological study.
