Vientos de agua is a sweeping family saga that spans generations and continents. The story begins in 1935 with José Olaya, a young man from Asturias who emigrates to Argentina after a tragic accident in the coal mine where he and his brother Andrés work. José assumes his brother's identity and starts a new life in Buenos Aires, where he meets and marries Sophie, a woman from Hungary. The story then jumps forward to 2001, where we meet Ernesto Olaya, José's son, who is an unemployed architect struggling to make a living in Buenos Aires. Ernesto decides to emigrate to Spain, where he meets Ana, a young waitress who helps him navigate the challenges of living in a new country. As Ernesto settles into his new life in Madrid, the series takes us on a journey through the past, revealing the events that shaped José's life in Argentina. We see how he becomes involved in politics and falls in love with Lucía, a woman who becomes Ernesto's mother. Meanwhile, back in the present, Ernesto struggles with the challenges of living abroad, including bureaucracy and xenophobia. Despite these challenges, he finds love with Mara, a young woman from Colombia who is also living in Spain. As the series unfolds, we see how the past and present intersect, as Ernesto learns more about his father's history and grapples with his own sense of identity. The series ends on a poignant note, with José finally revealing his secret to Ernesto and the two of them coming to terms with their shared history.
