March Comes In Like a Lion

Episode 1

24min - After a match with someone who knows him well, taciturn teenage loner and shogi professional Rei Kiriyama gets a sudden invitation to dinner.

Episode 2

24min - Two of Rei's self-professed rivals, Nikaidou and Matsumoto, each make an over-dramatic appearance. Later, some of the players head to Akari's bar.

Episode 3

24min - Longtime opponents Rei and Harunobu face off in their first official match, each spurred by the memory of their initial childhood confrontation.

Episode 4

24min - Hinata has a crush on the local baseball ace and wants to make a special homemade bento meal for him. But Akari is critical of her methods.

Episode 5

24min - After Rei picks her up at preschool, Momo trips and falls. While treating her bruise, Rei remembers the tragic events that led him to his profession.

Episode 6

24min - Despite having become a legitimate pro player earning his own money, Rei feels stuck in a rut after losing his chance to advance to the next level.

Episode 7

24min - Rei tells Takahashi about returning to high school after going pro and gets a surprising reaction that resonates with both him and Hinata.

Episode 8

24min - Rei and Nikaidou teach Hinata and Momo how to play shogi. Nikaidou attempts to communicate how much he passionately cares about Rei and shogi.

Episode 9

24min - Rei prepares to take on Shouichi Matsunaga, a 40-year veteran of shogi. During their match, Rei's opponent makes moves that are hard to read.

Episode 10

24min - Kyouko tells Rei about his upcoming opponent's family circumstances. On his way to the match with Yasui, Rei reflects back on a Christmas memory.

Episode 11

24min - On New Year's Eve, Akari, Hinata and Momo check in on the bedridden Rei. Surrounded by their support, Rei realizes he had made those around him worry.

Episode 12

24min - Rei focuses on the Lion King Tournament after spending New Year's with the Kawamotos. His first opponent is the strong attacker Takeshi Tsujii.

Episode 13

24min - Misumi goes up against Gotou in the tournament. Rei enters a match against Shimada that he personally cannot stand to lose.

Episode 14

24min - Having underestimated Shimada's abilities, Rei runs away from the tournament venue after the match. Shimada considers inviting Rei to his workshop.

Episode 15

24min - Gotou and Shimada face off during the first game of the finals. Rei sees Gotou with Kyouko and recalls the time he left the Kouda residence.

Episode 16

24min - Hayashida takes Rei to an after school science club so he can write up a report. Gotou and Shimada compete in their final game of the tournament.

Episode 17

24min - Rei and Nikaidou decide to participate in the festivities before the big opening match. When Rei steps out into the garden at the venue, he sees Souya.

Episode 18

24min - Shimada holds a workshop at his house before the third game. The next day, Rei shows up again and tries to offer as much as he can against Shimada.

Episode 19

24min - When Shimada lived in a snowy village in Yamagata, he worked to play shogi. Rei accompanies Shimada to Kyoto for the fourth game of the championship.

Episode 20

24min - Rei suddenly gets asked to be a commentator on the second day of the fourth game. Shimada fights through his stomach pain to go on an all-out attack.

Episode 21

24min - Rei and Nikaidou go to Shimada's hometown for the Human Shogi Festival. The Kawamotos put their heads together to come up with a new product.

Episode 22

24min - Rei finds it hard to fit in with his new classmates. Hayashida comes up with the idea of combining the After School Burners Club and the Shogi Club.
