As we start to figure out who Jane Doe is, the tension rises and the creepiness increases.

A superior cast (Brian Cox and Emile Hirsch play a father and son coroner team) adds to the fun, as does the production design – the pair work in a dimly lit basement painted the colour of clogged arteries.

...an effective mix of character interplay, spooky mystery and shock-and-scare tactics.

...a taut and economical horror film, making the most of the story’s cavernous negative space and prosthetic guts.
