Frequently asked questions
What is The Platform about?
In a dystopian future, prisoners are held in a tower-style facility called "The Pit," where they are fed via a descending platform that stops at each level for two minutes. The further down the level, the less food remains, and the inmates have resorted to cannibalism to survive. A man named Goreng voluntarily enters the facility for six months in exchange for a college diploma, but soon finds himself fighting for survival and haunted by hallucinations of his former cellmates. As he descends deeper into the Pit, he encounters a woman named Miharu who is searching for her child, and together they attempt to climb back up to the surface. However, their journey is fraught with danger and violence, and they eventually reach the bottom of the Pit where they find Miharu's daughter hiding under a bed. The film raises questions about solidarity, rebellion, and hope in the face of desperation and despair.
