Thaniyavarthanam

In a small village in Kerala,s a family is plagued by a curse that has been passed down for generations. One male member from each generation is said to go mad as a result of showing disrespect to a local goddess. When Balan Mash's mentally unstable uncle passes away, he becomes the target of speculation and fear about the omen. Balan's family has a terrible omen attached to them. As he struggles to maintain his sanity and sense of self, the village judges and scrutinizes his every move, convinced that he too will succumb to madness. In the end, Balan is admitted to an asylum and undergoes treatment but is eventually killed by his mother who poisons him on the day of the ritual for forgiveness from the goddess. The film explores themes of psychological trauma ,the power of superstition, and society's toxic nature.
