Ricki And The Flash: A Tale Of Redemption And Rock-n-Roll Ricki Rendazzo is ready to rock. A hard-rocking singer/guitarist with big dreams of stardom, she could never settle down to family life. But when her estranged daughter Julie’s marriage falls apart, Ricki gets a chance to make things right – and face the music with her family. The road to redemption won’t be easy though. Julie’s hostile toward Ricki because of her past abandonment, while her two sons are equally unwelcoming. One has come out gay and recently engaged, yet no one bothered to tell their mother. Despite the initial cold shoulder, Ricki persists, slowly getting through to Julie with her help. But things get complicated when Pete's second wife Maureen returns unexpectedly offering Ricki some harsh truths: she wasn’t there for her children when they needed her, but Maureen was. Ashamed Ricki returns to her California band angry and bitter, lashing out at her guitarist who’s also in love with her. He makes her realize he cares, they make love, and Maureen sends her an olive branch invitation to the son’s wedding despite her failed attempts at reconciliation; still an outsider at the wedding as guests glare at her during her toast to the bride and groom. As her gift, having no money, she has her band take over and play for the guests. Her son starts the wedding dance with his bride and the guests join in. It’s a star turn for Ricki Rendazzo – and a new beginning for this rock-n-roll family.
