Loving tells the true story of Richard and Mildred Loving, an interracial couple who challenged a Virginia law prohibiting interracial marriage in 1958. The couple, played by Joel Edgerton and Ruth Negga, were arrested and sentenced to prison, but they refused to give up their fight for their rights. Their case made its way to the US Supreme Court, which ruled in their favor in 1967, legalizing interracial marriage nationwide.
