I remember watching the short film as a kid, then I knew I was not the only one running after turning the lights off. It's awesome

What is Lights Out about? Toggle content

Lights Out is a horror movie that tells the story of a family haunted by a supernatural entity that can only be seen in the dark. The entity, which takes the form of a woman with claw-like hands, first appears to an employee named Esther in a textile factory after she says goodbye to her boss Paul. When Paul encounters the woman, he tries to run away but is killed when the lights go out. The story then shifts to Paul's son Martin, who witnesses his mother Sophie talking to something in the dark. Martin becomes increasingly afraid and begins to have trouble staying awake at school. His half-sister Rebecca is called into the school nurse's office and tells a Child Protective Services agent that Sophie is taking antidepressants. Martin reveals to Rebecca that their mother has been talking to an imaginary woman named Diana, which Rebecca also heard as a child. Rebecca takes Martin to her apartment, much to Sophie's despair, and that night, she is awoken by the same shadowed woman who killed Paul. She narrowly escapes an attack when she turns the lights on, making her realize that this creature only appears when it's dark. As strange events continue happening around them and they learn more about their family's past connection with Diana, they understand they are in grave danger... especially when there's no light available anymore for protection!
