What is The Train about? Toggle content

The Train is a gripping war thriller set in Paris, August 1944. As the Allies close in, a German colonel (Paul Scofield) plans to steal France's most valuable paintings and transport them to Germany. The French resistance wants to stop him, but they receive orders from London not to destroy the artwork. Station master Labiche (Burt Lancaster) joins forces with a small group of resistance fighters to prevent the train from leaving French territory. They stage an elaborate ruse, including a fake train schedule and a risky railroad switch, which leads to a tense showdown between Labiche and the colonel. With the help of his team, Labiche must find a way to save the paintings without sacrificing lives or damaging the artwork.
