What is Born in China about? Toggle content

Born in China follows three animal families through a year in the wilds of China: a snow leopard, a golden snub-nosed monkey, a giant panda, and a chiru antelope. Dawa, a snow leopard mother, has two cubs and struggles to keep them safe from danger. She fends off a rival snow leopard but is injured while hunting a sheep and later dies from being charged by a domestic yak. Her cubs are left to fend for themselves. TaoTao, a young golden snub-nosed monkey, is jealous of his newborn baby sister and is neglected by his parents. He befriends a group of outcast monkeys called "The Lost Boys," but eventually rejoins his family in winter. When spring approaches, TaoTao spends less time with his family and more time alone, but he comes to the rescue when a Goshawk threatens his sister, earning him a warm welcome back. YaYa the giant panda, lives in the snowy mountains with her baby. She must keep her baby safe while searching for food in the harsh environment.
