After the Rain

In 18th century Japan, a group of travelers is stranded in a small country inn due to heavy rains and flooding. Tensions rise as the travelers grow restless, but a charismatic ronin named Ihei Misawa takes it upon himself to lift everyone's spirits by organizing a grand feast. With no money to pay for the feast, Ihei visits local dojos and challenges the masters to prize fights, showcasing his exceptional swordsmanship. Impressed by his skills and temperament, the local lord Shigeaki offers Ihei a position as a sword master. However, their relationship becomes complicated as Ihei's prowess at sword fighting comes at the expense of Shigeaki's retainers. Set against the backdrop of Japan's feudal era, "After the Rain" explores themes of loyalty, honor, and survival through the eyes of its complex and intriguing characters.
