Yellowstone

Yellowstone, the world's first national park, derives its name from the yellow rocks that abundantly fill the area. Established in 1872, it harbors an extensive range of wild animals such as wolves and elks, all of which have adapted to the extreme conditions that pervade the landscape. Winters are brutally cold, plunging temperatures as low as minus 40 degrees Celsius while the ground freezes up to a foot deep. The park's diverse wildlife includes buffalo that can dig through snow to find grass and foxes that can hear a mouse's gentle movements underneath. However, it isn't all peaceful - wolves thrive during winter thanks to their optimal hunting conditions. Elk herds gradually weaken due to extreme cold, making them easy prey for the clever wolves who have no trouble feasting to their heart's content.
