In the bustling streets of Tokyo, a group of high school students must navigate the ups and downs of love, friendship, and extraterrestrial invasions. Ataru Moroboshi, a charming but unlucky womanizer, finds himself at the center of it all when he's chosen to represent humanity in a game against the Oni, a race of alien invaders. But things take a surprising turn when Ataru discovers that the game is actually a slapstick comedy of errors, and that his opponent, Lum, the daughter of the Oni leader, is smitten with him. With the fate of Earth hanging in the balance, Ataru must use all his wits and charm to outsmart Lum and save the day.
