The Lover

The Lover is a romantic comedy-drama series that follows the lives of four couples who share a common roof. The show takes a lighthearted and humorous approach to explore the ups and downs of each couple's relationship, as they navigate their way through love, conflict, and growth. The first couple, Oh Do-si and Ryu Doo-ri, are in their thirties and have been living together for two years. They are a loving couple who have chosen to live together instead of getting married, and they support each other through thick and thin. The second couple, Jung Young-joon and Choi Ji-nyeo, are twelve years apart in age. Ji-nyeo is a penny-pinching ajumma who supports her younger boyfriend, Young-joon, who is an aspiring musician but doesn't know how to play the guitar. Despite their age difference, they have a playful and affectionate relationship. The third couple, Park Hwan-jong and Ha Seol-eun, are in their twenties and have just moved in together. Seol-eun is a perfectionist who wants her boyfriend to believe she's the perfect embodiment of femininity. She works hard to keep up the illusion but struggles with the pressure of maintaining her image. Hwan-jong is a naive husband who loves his wife unconditionally. The fourth couple consists of Lee Joon-jae, a loner who prefers to stay at home due to his past relationships; and Takuya, a Japanese traveler he hires as his roommate. Joon-jae is initially hesitant to open up to Takuya, but the two eventually develop a close bond as they spend time together. Takuya helps Joon-jae to confront his inner demons while Joon Jae helps Takuya to understand the Korean culture. Throughout the series, viewers see how these four couples grow and evolve over time as they face challenges both individually and collectively while helping each other out along the way without fail.
