Penance

In the small town of Ueda, a young girl named Emiri is found dead in a school gym, and her four friends who were with her at the time cannot remember the face of the man who committed the crime. The mother of Emiri, Asako, is devastated and puts a curse on the four girls, telling them that they must make atonement for their wrongs if the killer is not caught. The lives of the four girls are forever changed as they struggle to cope with the trauma of their past and the guilt of not being able to identify the killer. Fifteen years later, the girls are now grown women, but their lives are still haunted by the events of that fateful day.
