My Girlfriend Is a Gumiho is a South Korean television series that tells the story of Cha Dae-woong, a college student who accidentally releases a gumiho (a legendary fox with nine tails) from a painting, and Mi-ho, the gumiho who takes on human form. Dae-woong is initially terrified of Mi-ho, as he believes that gumihos eat men's livers, but he eventually warms up to her and the two strike a deal: she'll lend him her mystical fox bead so that he can perform difficult stunts, and in exchange, he'll help her become human. As they spend more time together, they develop feelings for each other, but their love is complicated by the fact that Mi-ho's transformation into a human will require the sacrifice of a human life. The series explores themes of love, identity, and the supernatural, and features a unique blend of comedy, drama, and action.
