Abdul Qadir is a young man with a heart of gold who befriends a spoilt and fast girl named Zareen. She gradually influences him towards drinking alcohol and smoking. He proposes to her, but she rejects him, leaving him heartbroken. Abdul Qadir is sent to England by his mother, where he meets a girl named Nell who gradually brings him back to religion. They get married, but Nell dies due to AIDS. Abdul Qadir returns to Pakistan as a changed person and wants to be a religious scholar. His mother asks for Zareen's help to change him back, but Zareen, who is now divorced twice and living in poverty, initially refuses the offer. However, poverty gets the better of her, and she agrees to help Meera for the sake of money.
