In the aftermath of a catastrophic volcanic eruption, the small town of Vík is left scarred and shrouded in ash. But as the days pass, the residents begin to notice something strange - people who died years ago are mysteriously reappearing, seemingly untouched by time. As the "changelings" struggle to reconcile their past lives with their new realities, the townspeople are forced to confront their own unresolved issues and secrets. Meanwhile, a team of scientists, including a grieving volcanologist, uncover a long-buried meteorite that may hold the key to understanding the strange occurrences.
