Investiture of the Gods

In ancient China, the gods have abandoned the world and demons roam free, terrorizing humanity. The ruthless King Zhou of the Shang dynasty (Collin Chou) has taken control, but his wife, Daji (Wang Li Kun), possessed by a malevolent fox demon, goads him into committing heinous crimes against his own people. Fed up with his cruel tyranny, members of the Zhou dynasty rise up and overthrow the last king of Shang. As war rages, the Primeval Lord of the Heavens (Yu He Wei) sends his apprentices, Jiang Ziya, Shen Gongbao (Hai Yi Tian), and Yuding Zhenren (Lou Jin), to find worthy candidates to ascend to godhood. Jiang Ziya helps the new king of the Zhou dynasty govern his people, while Shen Gongbao betrays his master and joins forces with King Zhou, causing chaos and destruction. Yuding Zhenren takes the mortal Yang Jian under his wing and teaches him the ways of magic, helping him realize his true potential. As the war in the heavens intensifies, the fate of gods and humans alike hangs in the balance, controlled by a noble warrior who once captured the heart of a queen. Inspired by 16th-century works of fiction by Xu Zonglin and Lu Xixing,"Investiture of Gods" is a historical fantasy series from 2019, directed by Shin Woo Chul.
