In the small town of Kaltenstein, Germany, a fresh breeze blows from the West as hundreds of thousands of American GIs arrive in the province, marking the beginning of a new era of German-American friendship. Amidst the excitement and upheaval, two dissimilar women navigate their own paths, confronting conservative forces and temptations of the new world, all while testing the limits of their intimate friendship. As individual freedom, freedom of movement, and capitalism take root in Germany, the two friends must make difficult choices that will shape their futures and the future of their friendship.
