In a world where the dead can return to life as bloodthirsty monsters, a young girl named Makina Hoshimura has been tasked with the duty of hunting them down. Armed with dual machine guns and aided by a group of skilled Buddhist monks, Makina must eliminate 108 of these undead beings to earn her place in heaven. But as she battles her way through the darkness, Makina begins to uncover secrets about her own past and the true nature of the world she lives in. Is she just a tool for the monks, or does she have a deeper purpose?
