In the aftermath of World War II, a British intelligence officer is tasked with extracting vital information from a captured German scientist, who is resistant to cooperating. As the officer struggles with the ethics of his mission, he must navigate complex relationships with various characters in and around a bombed-out hotel in London. The series explores themes of loyalty, morality, and the blurred lines between enemy and ally.
