Bleak House

Set in 19th century England, Bleak House follows the lives of several individuals caught up in a longstanding estate battle, Jarndyce v Jarndyce, which has been ongoing for generations. The case hangs over the heads of many conflicting heirs, confused by multiple wills. The story centers around John Jarndyce, a possible beneficiary who welcomes orphaned cousins Ada Clare and Richard Carstone as his wards. Honoria, Lady Dedlock, the wife of the imperious baronet Sir Leicester, is also a possible beneficiary. As the legal battle continues, secrets and scandals are revealed about Lady Dedlock's past and her connection to a mysterious man named Nemo. Meanwhile, Richard and Ada fall in love amidst their own personal struggles and tragedies befall the characters as they navigate their complicated lives amidst the never-ending lawsuit.
