Baccano!

In the early 1930s, a group of alchemists aboard a ship called the Advenna Avis discovered the secret to immortality. However, they soon realized that this power came at a terrible cost: they had to devour each other to maintain their immortality. The remaining alchemists scattered across the globe, trying to escape the demonic curse. In New York City, a scientist named Szilard Quates and his immortal homunculus Ennis were trying to recreate the elixir of immortality. However, their plans were foiled when a young thug named Dallas Genoard stole the elixir and it was passed around the city, accidentally consumed by various members of the mafia. As the years passed, the surviving members of the Advenna Avis crew continued their lives, some becoming powerful figures in the criminal underworld. Aboard the transcontinental train Flying Pussyfoot in 1932, Claire Stanfield- an assassin and train conductor- boards as a conductor and assumes the identity of Rail Tracer- a monster that eats train passengers- and intervenes during a hijacking by two gangs attempting to kidnap a senator's family. He proposes to Chane Laforet -the daughter of Huey Laforet- one of Huey Laforet's friends. At the same time Ennis invites Isaac and Miria -two other passengers- to Manhattan while serial stowaway and newspaper field agent Rachel flees Claire's attention and manages to help in the rescue of hostages from Ladd Russo -a sadistic killer working for the Lemure who is defeated by Jacuzzy's gang. As the survivors disembark in New York City, they all go their separate ways. Later that year, Dallas' sister Eve searches for Dallas putting her at odds with Gandor family. This results in her getting caught up in a turf war between the Runoratta family involving drugs which eventually involves two lovers: Gandor speakeasy waitress Edith and her boyfriend -revealed to be Roy Maddock. Luck secretly tells Eve where Dallas is so she can avoid further bloodshed, then Claire helps in ending the turf war with bittersweet results.
