In the midst of political turmoil, six individuals find their lives forever changed as they become embroiled in Italy's largest corruption scandal. Against the backdrop of Milan's mani pulite investigation, Leonardo Notte - a charismatic advertising executive - sees an opportunity to profit from the crisis. Michele Mainaghi, a wealthy pharmaceutical entrepreneur, becomes entangled in the investigation when his company's tainted blood infects a young police officer with HIV. As the scandal unfolds, Mainaghi's mistress, Veronica Castello, pursues a career in television and becomes entangled with Notte. Meanwhile, upstanding Gulf War veteran Pietro Bosco finds himself propelled into a political career with the Lega Nord party, but at a steep personal cost. As the lives of these six individuals intertwine, they must confront the harsh realities of power, corruption, and betrayal in 1990s Italy.
