En utsökt filmatisering av Patricia Highsmiths bok och med det intrikata grundmaterialet är det svårt att misslyckas. Steven Zaillian tar väl hand om historien om identitet och ondska och berättar omsorgsfullt om sociopaten Tom Ripley med närbilde...
Scott lyckas inte bara med att göra sin roll lika obehaglig som karismatisk med små, men effektiva, medel. Även Ripleys förmåga att imitera människors röst och manér sätter han perfekt.
