...if you’re a fan of his particular brand of impossibly intelligent characters exchanging rat-a-tat dialogue, you’ll be in heaven here. The hose is on full blast for two-plus hours.

Forget the biographical backstory: the poker in Molly’s Game is the main reason to settle in, with Chastain keeping her eyes hawkishly on the prize, and whole careers hinging on a card-flip.

The film’s energy derives from its portrait of obscenely wealthy people throwing money around, scarcely aware of how many bills Molly pockets in return for engineering a fantasy world catering to their every need.
