Interconnected characters struggle with love, death and desperation over a long day in Los Angeles culminating with a bizarre weather phenomenon.

...unlike any other film released this past year, be it from the aspect of its storylines, of which there are many, or its emotional clarity, which is, quite frankly, brutal.

In one sense, it tells absorbing stories, filled with detail, told with precision and not a little humor. On another sense, it is a parable.
