Dialogen kan godt virke lidt klodset ind imellem, men god 'fantasy-film' for voksne om engle i Berlin. Vilde billeder af byen før Berlinmurens fald, inkl. nogle få scener i farver. Nick Cave optræder i slutningen.

Frequently asked questions

What is Wings of Desire about? Toggle content

In a divided Berlin, two angels roam the streets, unseen and unheard by its inhabitants. Damiel and Cassiel's existence is to observe and listen to the thoughts of Berliners, from a pregnant woman in an ambulance to a broken man feeling betrayed by his wife. While Cassiel remains detached, Damiel falls in love with a lonely circus trapeze artist named Marion. Actor Peter Falk arrives in West Berlin to make a film about the city's Nazi past and senses Damiel's presence. He tells him about the pleasures of human existence, persuading Damiel to shed his immortality. Experiencing life for the first time, he tastes food, drinks coffee but bleeds and sees colors like never before. Meanwhile, Cassiel tries to save a young man from committing suicide but fails. Touched by Marion's loneliness and Falk's words, Damiel decides to trade his wings for humanity as he discovers love amongst the ruins of post-war Berlin.
