En compañía de su perra Lucy, Wendy se traslada a Alaska para desempeñar un nuevo y lucrativo trabajo en una fábrica de conservas de pescado. Todo va bien hasta que, al cruzar el estado de Oregón, su modesto Honda Accord de los 80 se avería y tiene que llevarlo a un taller. Sus recursos económicos son tan limitados que acaba robando en un supermercado una lata de comida para perros, pero es descubierta y llevada a comisaría. Cuando, a las pocas horas, es puesta en libertad, resulta que Lucy ha desaparecido. Wendy tendrá entonces que recuperar a su perra y pagar la factura del taller. Así las cosas, tanto su dinero como su autoestima irán disminuyendo cada vez más.

As with Old Joy, Reichardt has an excellent sense of proportion: Shedoesn't try to do too much, but what she does do is fully realized.
